Permeable interlocking concrete pavers (PICP) allow stormwater to percolate back into the soil rather than run-off into sewers and waterways.
The base and sub base of a permeable paver application are composed of different sized layers of aggregate that filter and direct storm water to the soil below or exit through pipes. Permeable pavers are used as a way to control storm water run off. A permeable paver system does this by collecting water between the pavers joints and, depending on the soil type, the water infiltrates back into the ground or is released to the nearest storm sewer or waterway.
Benefits of permeable pavers (PICP)
- Qualifies as Best Management Practice (BMP)
- Reduces stormwater runoff / Prevents flooding
- Designed to meet government requirements
- Allows rainwater to recharge ground
- Filters stormwater before releasing
- Rainwater harvesting options
- Environmentally safe
Permeable pavers also help with existing drainage issues. The surface of a permeable pavers application can be made perfectly flat, with the stone base being contoured to direct the water to where it needs to go. By implementing a few design features, the permeable system can be used for rain water harvesting…
Our first exposure to Ryan’s Landscaping was on a small landscaping project. We were so pleased with his work, promptness, and professionalism that we have worked with him on several additional projects. This included an outdoor kitchen that is the envy of all my friends and neighbors. Ryan has a great vision and a get it done attitude for all the projects he has helped us design. I will be working with him on future projects and would recommend his work to anyone.

We hired Ryan’s landscaping for our new home, and were very happy with the job Ryan and his crew did. We had landscaping done on all four sides of our home, and elected to have stone put down instead of mulch. It looks great and we don’t have to re-mulch every year!
We also opted for a stone border along our beds versus the plastic tubing, per Ryan’s recommendation, and we are glad we did! We now have beautiful landscaping, with very little maintenance!
I would certainly recommend Ryan’s Landscaping to anyone!

We’ve used Ryan for a variety of services over the past 4 years, including landscaping several mulch beds and around our pool, planting trees, and paver work on our front porch and walkway, patio, curved knee wall, and pool area. Plus he has provided lawn care for us such as aerating, over seeding and fertilizing. I can always depend on him and his employees to give me a quality job with a smile. He is meticulous, hard-working, and fair. Whenever we have an outdoor project, he’s the first guy we think of. I’ll keep using Ryan’s Landscaping until I run out of landscape projects!

My wife and I moved into a newly build home in November of 2011. Lawn was seeded, but needed additional landscaping. We were able to locate Ryan and have him provide us with outstanding service then, and now when we need additional work done on the property. Ryan put steps into the back yard so that my wife was able to walk up a hill to her garden. He has maintained our plant and flower beds since 2011 and we are looking forward to his continued present here around our home.
What is an interlocking concrete paver?
An interlocking concrete paver is a special type of paver. This special type of paver, also known as a segmental paver, has emerged over the last couple of decades.
When one thinks of interlocking paving stones one often gets the idea of dog bone shape stones that fit together like a jigsaw puzzle. That is not the case at all. The interlocking comes from the fact that each stone cannot move independently from its neighbor. In fact there are two important aspects of an interlocking paving stone job that keeps the pavers interlocked.

A segmental retaining wall (SRW) is constructed of strong designed block and built horizontally to alleviate the erosion of soil, due to hills or slopes. In addition it will create a flat area to poorly sloped piece of land, adding more useable space. Our retaining walls are built with function and beauty, and are constructed of the highest quality material, so they’re built to last.
Retaining walls are built using materials such as wood, stone, interlocking blocks, or poured into place concrete. Each comes with its own benefits and associated costs. One thing to keep in mind is drainage. A drainage system behind the retaining wall is crucial to the life of the wall system, no matter what material is used to construct the wall.

We know choosing a retaining wall contractor right the first time is important. Our retaining walls offer both functions, beauty, and are built to last. We have been providing York & Adams County area families with quality and well-built retaining walls for over 10 years.
When considering hiring a contractor there are many questions that go into building a retaining wall that must be asked.
1. How wide and deep should the footing be? (This is the most important part of the project)
2. Does the contractor have experience?
3. What type of equipment do I need?
4. Does it need to be engineered?
5. How much drainage do I need?
6. How tall should it be?
We can take the guessing part out for you. At Ryan’s Landscaping we stand ready to serve you and answer any and all questions that may come up during the project. As with any retaining wall project, the chances of problems coming up are there. With over 25 years of combined experience we work proactively to minimize any downtime on your project.
We pride ourselves on making sure your retaining wall is installed properly the first time. Everything from digging the footing, to adding the proper drainage behind the wall. We will see to it that it’s done right the first time
